The Pines First Avenue Album Release show

The Pines are like no other band in music today.  Their sound is a cinematic landscape that melds a shadowy folk sound with indie-rock and on their new album Above the Prairie they explore the vastness of the prairies and the cosmos.  We hope you'll join us on Friday, March 18th as they celebrate the release of Above the Prairie at Minneapolis' legendary rock club First Avenue!

While The Pines were on tour on the East Coast last month they were able to swing by The Paste Magazine Studio for a session!

The great Dale Watson will be appearing at the Malibu Guitar Festival, April 29th-May 1st. The festival takes place in bars and restaurants within the vibrant Malibu community and culminates with an all-day outdoor concert on Saturday, April 30th.  Joining Dale are other guitar slinging luminaries like Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Albert Lee, Robert Randolph, and more!

The Cactus Blossoms at Folk Alley 30A Festival

A couple months ago The Cactus Blossoms were down in Florida for the 30A Songwriter's Festival.  While they were down there, they swung by the Folk Alley house and taped a session and performed "Mississippi," "Clown Collector" and "Powder Blue."  The "Powder Blue" session is now a 'featured session' on NPR Folk Alley!

Check out the full Folk Alley session here!

The Pines Above the Prairie

The Pines were recently down in Texas on tour behind Above the Prairie.  While they were in Austin, they swung by KUTX to perform an in-studio that was captured on video via VuHaus.  WXPN has picked up the performance of "Aerial Ocean" as their video of the day!  Check it out here!

Roswell Rudd and Heather Masse August Love Song

Happy release day!

The brand new album from jazz trombon icon Roswell Rudd and vocal songstress Heather Masse (of The Wailin' Jennys) is now available worldwide!  The pairing of vocals and trombone is certainly unique, but these two deliver a jazz masterpiece that features originals like "Love Song for August," "I'm Goin' Sane (One Day at a Time)" and exceptional renditions of classics such as "Mood Indigo" and "Love is Here to Stay."  August Love Song is a jazz record 'like they used to make!'

Eric Peltoniemi is officially announcing that he is retiring as President of Red House Records after three decades.  2016 marks his 50th year in the music industry as a singer/songwriter, graphic designer, Grammy-winning producer and label executive.  His career includes stints in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and the Twin Cities as well as Finland and Sweden.

The Cactus Blossoms brand new video for "Stoplight Kisses" is now premiering over at CMT!  The song is the hit single off their Billboard-charting new album You're Dreaming!  Check out the cool classic vibe of this masterpiece!

The Cactus Blossoms and Heather Masse on A Prairie Home Companion

The Cactus Blossoms are highlighting their big hometown album release show with an appearance on A Prairie Home Companion on Saturday, February 13th!  They'll be joining Heather Masse as well, so this is sure to be an amazing evening of music and world-class vocals.

The Pines are currenlty criss-crossing the East coast and South behind their brand new record Above the Prairie.  Hailed by Popmatters as a "roots art record" that makes you "consider what Radiohead might sound like if driven by wood and steel rather than ones and zeros."

They stopped by City Winery in New York City to perform "Sleepy Hollow," "Aerial Ocean," and "Come What Is" in a live session that beautifully captures their atmospheric vibe that sounds like no other band out there.
