Songwriter/storyteller Steve Poltz is releasing the first official video from his deubt album for Red House/Compass Records group. “Ballin’ on a Wednesday,” an ode to livin’ large on hump day, was shot in Steve’s neighborhood of East Nashville by Stacie Huckaba. An ode to slumming it and having fun between the weekends, the video features cameos by fellow musicians AJ Croce and Jon Latham, assorted friends, two tourists who were in the neighborhood, and cheerleaders from Nashville troupe the Rhinestone Cabaret. Poltz even appears in space! (Full disclosure: it’s not real.)
A festival favorite for his unique blend of observational humor, offbeat stories and well-crafted songs, Poltz will return to the Cayamo Cruise line-up for 2020 and will be performing at Telluride, Ottawa Bluesfest, Philadelphia Folk Fest and more (scroll down for compete dates). “Ballin’ on a Wednesday” was included in Rolling Stone’s “10 Best County and Americana Songs of the Week” and the Associated Press wrote, “Poltz is part busker, part Iggy Pop and part Robin Williams, a freewheeling folkie with a quick wit and big heart. See him live and wonder why he doesn’t fill arenas.”
