Earlier this year vocalist Heather Masse (of The Wailin' Jennys) and avant-guarde trombonist Roswell Rudd teamed up for an unlikely collboration of voice and trombone on August Love Song. The album featured complete reworkings of jazz standards as well as originals by Masse and Rudd, highlighting their mastery of jazz interpretation and composition. The Huffington Post writer Michael Bialas recently called August Love Song one of the "most adventurous albums of the year," placing the album on his 'Sweet 16 of 2016' list.
