Charlie Parr & Phil Cook On Tour

Longtime pals and occasional collaborators Charlie Parr and Phil Cook have joined forces for a select run of dates – SEE INFO/TICKETS HERE. Parr is a MN-based raw folk blues artist/songwriter whose blistering picking, offbeat characters and raw emotion have made him a cult favorite. Cook is based in North Carolina but hails from Wisconsin. An acclaimed solo artist and producer (he produced Parr’s album Stumpjumper), he’s also a member of Hiss Golden Messenger.

Parr will soon be announcing the fall 2019 follow-up to his Dog; stay tuned for details!

CHARLIE PARR: Easily confused and very shy, Duluth, MN-based artist Charlie Parr has been traveling around performing his resonator-fueled folk songs ever since leaving Austin, MN in the 1980s in search of Spider John Koerner, whom he found about 100 miles north at the Viking Bar. The experience changed his life, made him more or less unemployable, and transformed him into the force of nature known to fans today. A cult hero who’s performed at Newport Folk Fest and won fans here and abroad, Charlie is touring for his moving album, DOG. Switching between acoustic guitar, dobro and banjo, his keening, cut-through-the-crowd vocals resonate with a conviction that runs deep and true. His heartfelt and plaintive original folk blues and traditional spirituals are authentic in the truest sense. Parr is readying his third full-length album for Red House Records; look for a fall 2019 release.  Watch “Dog” Official Video HERE

PHIL COOK: Transforming pain and injustice into love and compassion is a rendering that has been universal to poets and prophets for centuries. In present times, choosing to amplify community and positivity through art can seem like a radical act. With the arrival of People Are My Drug, Phil Cook is taking the spark from lights left on by musical heroes and offering a torch for listeners as they navigate their own dark corners. Where 2015’s Southland Mission illuminated for listeners what Phil Cook hears in his head, this latest record lays bare the way that music makes him feel. Watch Phil Cook perform Parr’s “1922” HERE
